Planter Mod – Customer

Posted on Leave a comment

Hi. As I was not prepared to spend any more money i needed to use items already kicking around. Bit of a light bulb moment yesterday eve. Placed small holed green plastic coated chicken mesh in base of planter over existing slabs which will give sufficient rigidity to the horticultural membrane placed over the top. Batten is then screwed atop through into slats holding whole together so there is no movement when placing in the 20mm shingle (or crock or broken brick) for drainage, then top up with a mix of 3 parts sterilised topsoil to 1 part peat free compost (horticultural grit if planting needs to be well drained). Farmyard manure (processed)  just a big handful if planting clematis and hopefully all will be hunky dory. Just feed annually. (It is not necessary but i will rummage to find 6 more screws of the right length to put a batten down the centre of both planters). Hope this is of some use. Tk
