Hello Ian. Probably of little interest but thought i’d show you last phases to pre planting. Having placed a bag and a half of 20mm shingle over wire mesh and membrane, i placed a further layer of membrane over shingle so water could move through but medium wouldn’t clog shingle. Then a layer of my friable Shropshire silty clay subsoil followed by alternate layers of peat free compost, grit and topsoil. Sorted! Now they are painted with Cuprinol garden shades ‘Silver Birch’ (photo makes them look darker than they are) just needs the climbers and in the summer an underplanting of heliotrope. The grey will be a great foil for the colour of the heliotrope.🙂Tk
